PISAY-SMC HONORS REAL-LIFE HEROES OF THE SCHOOL ESPECIALLY IN TIME OF COVID-19
During this holiday season, when we offer gifts to each other, it’s important to remember and give back to the essential workers who have on their own quiet and understated ways given their gifts of service despite the threat of COVID-19.
That is why, the Management Committee and all the regular non-teaching personnel of Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus served up a simple feast and prepared a short program during the Year-end Thanksgiving held last December 17, 2020 at the school’s gymnasium to show their immense appreciation to the incredible teams of janitors, security guards, and PTA/Foundation staff who continued to fulfill their duties through and through.
During the program, these hardworking individuals were each given a bag of grocery items courtesy of the school, another pack of basic goods courtesy of PSHS SMC Parents-Teachers Association, and a cash gift courtesy of PSHS SMC Foundation, Inc. ANLEO Janitorial Services, the main agency of the janitors and the new Campus Director of PSHS SMC, Mr. Jonald P. Fenecios each gave pork lechon. Raffle drawing was also held wherein tickets were given away even to regular non-teaching staff to be able to have the chance to win inexpensive yet cool prizes.
Social distance, wearing of masks, and other guidelines was strictly followed throughout the duration of the year-end thanksgiving event.

On digital citizenship webinar, Pisay-SMC aims for students, personnel to be more responsible netizens
“Nowadays, people have this misconception that social media is a platform where everyone is just free to do whatever they want. People, most of the time, forget to be contemplative, conscientious, and humane. This is why Responsible Digital Citizenship and Media Literacy is an important topic to talk about.”
Thus said by the Resource Speaker, PhD Linguistics candidate, Associate Professor of the University of Mindanao, and Distinguished Toastmaster Maico Demi B. Aperocho during the Digital Citizenship Webinar last Thursday, December 17, 2020 and such a statement was also the rationale why the Curriculum and Instruction Division of Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus organized and hosted the event in the first place.

2020 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women
The Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus is one with the Philippine Commission on Women on its 18-Day Campaign to End VAW, an advocacy campaign that is observed annually from November 25 to December 12 as mandated by Proclamation 1172 s. 2006.
As reflected in their website (https://pcw.gov.ph/2020-18-day-campaign-to-end-violence-against-women/), “this year’s campaign highlights the role and essence of the Barangay, as part of a VAW-free community, in consonance with the recurring theme “VAW-free community starts with Me”. Aside from capacitating VAW Desk Officers and other barangay officials on how to handle VAW/GBC cases, the campaign reiterates everyone’s commitment and contributions on ending VAW and calls on the general public to make a personal commitment to end violence against women and children.”
