Pisay-SMC students sweep awards in 2014 international and national tilts

The year 2014 was a triumphant year for the PSHS-SMC scholars as they prominently showcased their prowess and skills in the multitudes of national and international competitions they participated in.
For instance, Faith D. Villahermosa (Grade 8), Felix Arthur C. Dioso (Grade 8), and Julliam A. Gadiane (3rd Year) swept three winnings in the 3rd ASEAN Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey held at Nat’l Science Museum, Pathum Thani, Thailand on June 23-29, 2014: 1st place, Homemade Diesel and Miracle of Green Lab Skills Assessment, 3rd place,Trans’ Farm’er Lab Skills Assessment, and 3rd place, Group Project Presentation.

Legaspino takes oath at PSHS Golden Anniversary

September 1, 2014. Ms. Delia A. Legaspino's term as the SMC Director has been renewed for another six (6) years. She took her oath at the PSHS Main Campus during its Golden Year Celebration and Recognition Program.
Pisay-SMC holds series of GAD activities

The Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus, with the initiative of the Gender and Development Committee, embarked on gender and development (GAD) as one of its priority programs for this year.
One of the gender and development-related activities organized was a Reproductive Health Seminar entitled “Cervical Cancer: Decreasing the Burden” with Dr. Concepcion Damaso-Rayel as the resource speaker. This took place on October 1, 2014 at the PSHS-SMC Mini-auditorium and was attended by all the school’s personnel.
Then on November 3-5, 2014, a series of GAD-anchored events were realized and conducted at Grand Men Seng Hotel, Magallanes Street, Davao City, in response to the institution’s need for capability development on gender mainstreaming. The first one was the Training and Workshop on Gender Sensitivity wherein the resource speaker, Ms. Marita Castillo-Pimentel from Mirriam College, made the PSHS-SMC personnel take part in different gender sensitivity exercises such as “Understanding gender in WE”, “Gendered senses”, and “Valuing gender in our work: The 24 hr work-plan”.
