PSHS-SMC GFPS promotes Gender and Development Endeavors
In support of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and their Children which is observed annually from November 25 to December 12, the GAD Focal Point System Technical Working Group (GFPS-TWG) conducted series of activities that help promote the protection of the rights of women. The activities included the following: the GAD Capacity Development Program for the Grade 7 students where the GFPS members gave talks on Gender Sensitivity, orientation on R.A. 7877 (Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995), and an orientation on R.A. 9262 (Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act). The orientations on these topics aimed to educate the students on the basic gender and development concepts, and to increase their level of awareness and understanding of the GAD-related laws of the land.
To further impress the importance of the campaign on the students, the members sponsored a song-writing and presenttion contest open to all year levels exploring the advocacy of anti-VAWC which was held last December 11, 2017.
