Likewise, during the 16th Malaysia International Young Investors Olympiad (MIYIO) held at Tun Syed Sheh Shahabudin Science Secondary School, Malaysia on April 17-20, 2014, Merimae S. Villamayor and Miguel Victor L. Alvarez, who are both 4th Year students, won the Bronze Award.

They were in the lead just as well in the different national competitions such as in 16th Philippine Math Olympiad held at De La Salle University, Manila on January 25, 2014.  Jose Alfonso Ignacio Mirabueno (4th year) emerged as rank 1 and Top Scorer for the Mindanao Area. Apart from him, another fourth year student, Dave Laurence Juntilla came out as rank 2 and also among the Top Scorers for the Mindanao Area.

 

In addition, during the National Science Fair held at First Pacific Leadership Academy, Antipolo City on February 8-12, 2014, Merimae S. Villamayor  and Miguel Victor L. Alvarez (4th Year) won 1st place for Best Engineering Project (awarded by Samsung)for their research entitled “Fabrication and Characterization of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell Material Using Bixa- orellana (Atsuete and Ag-TiO2 on Glass Substrates" and Lawrence Deligero and Robert Glynis Aguilar (4th Yr) garnered the award for Best Experience Wall Post.

Moreover, during the Australian National Chemistry Quiz held last June 19-20, 2014 at Philippine Science High School Main Campus, Quezon City; Anjila Bianca Aala (4th Year) was given Credit Award in the Junior Division Grade 7 LevelwhileKent Emmanuel Soria (4th Year)was granted with Distinction Award in the Junior Division Grade 7 Level.

Lastly, in the group competition during the National Schools Press Conference on April 7- 10, 2014 at Subic Bay Metropolitan Freeport Zone, Olongapo City, Sci-Wings (The Official English Publication of the PSHS-SMC was singled out as the 2nd Best in Science and Technology Page.
