As part of the celebration of the World Space Week held from October 4 – 10 of every year, the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) partnered with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region XI and the Philippine Science High School – Southern Mindanao Campus (PSHS-SMC) in promoting Space Science to Grade 10 students.

On October 6, the made a courtesy call on the PSHS-SMC Director, Dr. Jonald P. Fenecios and turned over a plaque of appreciation modelled after Diwata – 2, the Philippines’ second 50kg. Earth observation microsatellite.  On October 7, the team this time led by the PhilSA Director General, Dr. Joel Marciano Jr., conducted a lecture and demonstration on amateur radio satellite communication with Diwata – 2.

Through these activities, PhilSA hopes that students will develop interest on the importance of Space Science in responding to environmental issues and its contributions to disaster response and management.
