Teachers from the different academic units gathered to attend the two-day seminar on Research Niche which was anchored on the theme Innovation for the Community, for the People: PSHSS on Identifying the Research Agenda per Region last November 6 – 7, 2017.
The seminar was organized by the PSHS Office of the Executive Director and was initiated by the Executive Director herself, Ms. Lilia Habacon who believes that every regional PSHS campus should establish a distinct niche for its research endeavors. The program on finding the campus' research niche aims to aid the teachers in carving out an area on research that will reflects the unique expertise of the campus and provide greater impact and relevance in the region and its people.

Grade nine Patricia Marielle Moralde was adjudged the top scorer during the Philippine Science Olympiad National Eliminations last September 9, 2017 held at Pantukan, Compostela Valley. Also, Patricia Marielle Moralde together with Revien Rodriguez (Grade 9) and Anne Felize Padillo's (Grade 10) collated individual scores emerged the highest thus placing PSHS-SMC as the top school in the ranking. The students were coached by Ms. Emma Mari Macavinta
The team will compete in the national level come September 30, 2017 in Quezon City.
