Mr. Michael A. Casas, Chief of the Student Services Division of PSHS SMC, won second place in the 3 minute Pitch to Policymakers Competition Organized by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) last August 10, 2021. The event was held via Zoom and was participated by nine participants from nine different regions in the Philippines.
The competition invites researchers with completed funded projects by DOST-PCHRD to pitch their research findings to policymakers for possible policy formulation. Mr. Casas pitched his policy proposition entitled โPositioning the Philippines as the Traditional Medicines Hub of the World with Chromatographyโ after completing his DOST-PCHRD funded research entitled โChromatographic Approaches in the Analysis of Blumea balsamifera (Sambong) and Vitex negundo (Lagundi).โ ย He remarks that through his policy proposition, the traditional medicines sector of the country will be empowered.ย
After landing the second spot in the contest, Mr. Casas will receive Php 20,000.00 cash from DOST-PCHRD.
