Participants from the Philippine Science High School-Southern Mindanao Campus garnered awards in the recently concluded ECONVERGENCE 2017 held last February 4-5, 2017 at University of the Philippines, Los Banos. With the theme Addressing Regional Economic Disparity: Assessing Federalism as Venue for an Inclusive Economy, ECONVERGENCE 2017 had students express their views in different contest events.
The following awards were garnered by the participants from the PSHS-SMC:

First Runner Up, Impromptu Speaking - Jessant Louie Garferio (Grade 10)
First Runner Up, Mini-Documentary - Mikhaela Ron Paclibar (Grade 11)
Third Runner Up, Ekonomika Quiz Bee - Dann Lawrence Llabore

The PSHS-SMC was adjudged as the 4th in the overall ranking. Mr. Jefferson Nuneza and Mr. Maico Demi Aperocho served as the coaches of the students.
