It is a proud moment for Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus to announce that one of its alumni, Yyoni Xandria Marie Tiu of Batch 2018 (Sinagtala), is not only among the graduating Philippine Military Academy “Bagsik Diwa” Class of 2022 who will be commissioned into junior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines by outgoing President Duterte at the military school’s commencement exercises scheduled on May 15, 2022 but she is one of the members on the class’ top 10 list too.

Of the 165 males and 49 females of the PMA “Bagsik Diwa” Class of 2022, Yyoni Xandria Marie Tiu emerged as Top 5 cadet.

Congratulations Yyoni! Continue serving the Filipino people and giving honor to our country.

The Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus extends its deepest condolences for the loss of the former campus director of PSHS-CVC, Dr. Salvador Romo. Your contribution to the Pisay community will always be fondly remembered. Our prayers go out to the bereaved family. Rest in peace, Dr. Romo.

Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus would like to congratulate Anjila Bianca Lao Aala (Batch 2015) for being among the topnotchers in the recently-held April 2022 Pharmacist Licensure Examination.

Aala was the top 2 of the 678 out of 1,870 examinees who passed the test.

The whole PSHS-SMC community would also like to extend applause and commendation to the other alumni who likewise pass the said board exam.

May you all serve the people and the country!

A woman, a Mindanaoan, a Pisay-SMC Alumna

Having a Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus alumna emerged as among the topnotchers of the March 2022 Physician Licensure Examination is indeed one very good reason enough to celebrate 2022 National Women’s Month.

Dr. Gabrielle P. Flores, fondly known as “Gaby” especially among her PSHS-SMC Class 2014 batch mates, ranked 4th with a rating of 87.83 based on the advisory posted by the Professional Regulation Commission last March 18, 2022.

The whole PSHS-SMC community is celebrating and is very proud of this achievement.

#FacetoFaceAgain: The Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus successfully passed the requirements set by the City Health Office (CHO), Davao City for the limited face-to-face learning method in secondary school. The campus has its pilot limited in-person (voluntary basis) classes with the Grade 12 scholars starting today, Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

The Grade 12 participants are fully vaccinated as verified and have complied with the required documents such as the signed parents' consent, medical clearance, and health declaration. Around 42 scholars attended the first day of in-person classes. They went through health checks. They were also required to wear a face mask at all times and to bring a health kit complete with sanitizer, an extra face mask, thermometer, medicine, etc. Prior to the in-person classes, the scholars had online meetings with the school heads and the Health Unit personnel who constantly reminded them to always observe social distancing and follow the health protocols.

The in-person classes are held only in the morning at the designated facilities like the Academic Building 2, auditorium, gymnasium, Chemistry, Research, and Computer Science Laboratories.

Likely, if things get even better and Covid-19 cases continue to plummet, Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus will resume regular in-person classes effective School Year 2022-2023 across all grade levels.

Dr. Lyre Anni E. Murao clocked her first day in the office as UP Mindanao’s new chancellor last March 1, 2022.

Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus couldn’t be more proud of this achievement as Dr. Murao is actually from PSHS SMC Batch 92 (Pioneers) and was in fact awarded as the Most Outstanding Alumni for her batch.

She is the sixth chancellor of UP Mindanao. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Medical Science in Infection Research conferred by Nagasaki University, Japan. She earned her Master of Science in Microbiology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and her BS Molecular Biology degree from the University of the Philippines-Diliman.

Congratulations Chancellor Lyre Anni E. Murao! The whole Pisay-SMC is very proud and is in full support of you.
