As part of the celebration of the World Space Week held from October 4 – 10 of every year, the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) partnered with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region XI and the Philippine Science High School – Southern Mindanao Campus (PSHS-SMC) in promoting Space Science to Grade 10 students.   

On October 6, the made a courtesy call on the PSHS-SMC Director, Dr. Jonald P. Fenecios and turned over a plaque of appreciation modelled after Diwata – 2, the Philippines’ second 50kg. Earth observation microsatellite.  On October 7, the team this time led by the PhilSA Director General, Dr. Joel Marciano Jr., conducted a lecture and demonstration on amateur radio satellite communication with Diwata – 2.

Through these activities, PhilSA hopes that students will develop interest on the importance of Space Science in responding to environmental issues and its contributions to disaster response and management.

Selected PSHS-SMC Grade 11 Research students and their advisers joined the PSHSS-UNICEF Research Project kick off activity last December 1-2, 2022, held via Zoom.   The two-day kick off activity immersed the participants from 16 PSHS campuses in lectures on topics related to the theme of the partnership which is conducting research on cost-effective and sustainable solutions for human fecal degradation.

Shown in the photos are the Research students, Althea Bianca Tiu, Loridelle Jane Hisoler, and Reona Kristine Nolasco of PSHS-SMC and their Advisers, Ms. Sharon Dejarme and Kier Domingo, as they presented their research proposal entitled Potential of Bromelain and Papain Synthesized Silver Nanoparticles against Physicochemical and Pathogenic Properties of Human Fecal Matter to the panel.

Proclamation No. 227 s. 1988 declares the annual conduct of the National Women's Month Celebration every month of March. This celebration aims to give due recognition to the contributions of Filipino women in our society and commemorate the history of women's impact in the world and raises awareness of issues women face worldwide.

The Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus joins the celebration of this year's National Women's Month with the theme, "WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society". It is a recurring theme for the 2023-2028 celebration along with the official hashtag #WEcanbeEquAll.

 Pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation No. 247, s. 2022 declaring the month of September every year as Development Policy Research Month, the PSHS-SMC encourages the entire community to join the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) in celebrating the importance of promoting sound and responsive research policy in accelerating nation-building, post-pandemic.

Aptly themed “#CloseTheGap: Accelerate Post-pandemic Recovery through Social Justice,” the month-long celebration aims to highlight the importance of post-pandemic recovery plan in the areas of human capital development and social protection, public health services and infrastructure, and environmental resilience.
