This is the first time for Pisay to introduce the school and the students openly to the public. This is also our way of enticing graders to apply and soon enroll to PSHS.”
Thus were the words of PSHS SMC Campus Director Delia C. Legaspino regarding the school’s recently concluded event, the Pisay Smart-up!, last April 26, 2019 at SM City Davao.
The Pisay Smart-up!, which was the culmination of the school’s Alternative Learning Assessments (ALAs) or clubs, served as its way of opening up to the public and exhibiting the talents and skills of its students while also advertising PSHS SMC to elementary school students and encouraging them to apply and eventually enroll. The event consisted of a city-wide quiz bee, essay writing contest, and impromptu speaking contest for elementary school students.
Fourteen public and private schools around Davao City participated in the event’s activities; these schools include the following: Bago Elementary School, Davao City Special School, Davao Christian High School (CPG Campus), Davao Christian High School (V. Mapa Campus), Davao Chong Hua High School, Lighthouse Home School Network, Magallanes Elementary School, Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Elementary School, Imelda Elementary School, Montessori de Manila, South Point School, M’lang Pilot Elementary School, Los Amigos Elementary School, and Davao City Learning Center.
Winners from the different contests were awarded medals, certificates, and souvenir items such as notebooks, planners, and tumblers; those who garnered the top place from the different events were the following: champion essay writing contest — Kate Margaret Machica (Davao Chong Hua High School), champion impromptu speaking contest — Josiah Harris (Lighthouse Home School Network), and champion quiz bee competition — Weiming Chen and Hongming Chen (Davao Christian High School V. Aside from the different contests, the students also showed their holistic side through the different intermission numbers given by the school’s Glee Club, PiTAK, and Oasias Dance Troupe and display booths by the JEM Club, Robotics Club, Sports Club, Photography Club, and Debate Club.
