PSHSSMC holds SMT Fair
Students of the Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus (Pisay) gathered for a one-day Science, Math, and Technology (SMT) Fair last March 4, 2016, Friday at the PSHS-SMC Gym. The fair showcased the grades nine and ten students' exhibits on Robotics, Life Science, Physical Science, Math and Technology and grades seven and eight students investigatory projects.

The Philippine Science High School Southern – Mindanao Campus celebrated it 28th founding anniversary on February 5, 2016 with the theme: Leading in excellence and passion for service.
The one-day affair started off with an ecumenical thanksgiving service in the morning and was followed by the opening program. Ms. Delia C. Legaspino, the Director, welcomed guests, parents, and students and briefly walked them through the history of the PSHSSMC. Dr. Katherine Grace R. Tan of Batch 2003 served as the guest speaker and shared with the the Pisay community her fond memories of the school and how it helped her become what she is now. The opening program feature the Hudyaka talent contest where students from different grade levels competed in a song and dance category.

Pisay conducts community mission

In keeping with its commitment to immerse the students and to raise their awareness in the issues and concerns of the community, the Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus conducted a community mission to different institutions in the city. The Alternative Learning Activity (ALA) unit, with the asistance of the Sustainable Outreach Committee of the PSHSSMC, spearheaded this year's community mission.
Launching of Samsung SMART Classroom
Samsung continues to find ways to creatively engage students in the school as it partners with the Philippine Science High School- Southern Mindanao Campus in putting up the first SMART Classroom in Mindanao, and second in the Philippines. The establishment of the SMART Classroom is a response to both Samsung and PSHSSMC's desire to effectively incorporate technology in the classroom and to take another step towards building a learning platform that will empower teachers to deliver instructions through an interactive learning environment. The classroom will feature two units of 65-inch interactive whiteboard and 30 units of Samsung Galaxy tablets.
Orientation on Sexual Harassment

To increase awareness on the provisions of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act, the PSHS-SMC GAD, or Gender and Development Commitee sponsored an orientation about the RA 7877 last October 16, 2015. Personnel, parents, and students were the audience of the said orientation since they are the major stakeholders when in comes to issues on sexual harassment.
Attorney Janer G. Sanchez of the Commission on Human Rights, Region XI , discussed on the salient points of the said law, particularly in the context of the academic setting like Pisay. He specifically discussed the definition and elements of sexual harassment and the policy of the State on sexual harassment. He also explained the mechanism of filing complains regarding these offenses in the school setting.
Pisay celebrates 1st Card Giving Day and United Nations Day for 2015-2016

With the theme: Pisay Scholars: United for a Sustainable World, the school gave recognition to the achievers of the first quarter and celebrated the United Nations Day last October 16, 2015, Friday. At 1:30 in the afternoon, the PSHSSMC community gathered at the gymnasium for the said program.
